FAQs

Money & Payment

Q: Can I use my insurance for this?
A: Our services are private pay and not billed through insurance. We focus on the supports insurance often won’t cover — like parent coaching, short-term intensives, and community-based learning. Families sometimes submit invoices to their insurance or use HSA/FSA funds, but coverage is not guaranteed.

Q: Why doesn’t insurance cover this?
A: Insurance usually only covers services deemed “medically necessary.” That leaves out many areas parents find most valuable — coaching, group classes, or short-term intensives. We created Outlier ABA to fill those gaps.

Q: Do you offer payment plans?
A: Yes. We want this to feel manageable. Families can pay per session, per package, or in installments depending on the service.

Scheduling & Structure

Q: How long is each session?
A: Parent coaching sessions are typically 60 minutes. Intensives are 2-hour daily sessions for 4–6 weeks. Group classes run about 60–75 minutes.

Q: Do we have to commit for 3 months?
A: No. We offer flexible packages — from a single consult with a written plan, to month-to-month memberships, to 6-week intensives. Families choose what feels right.

Q: What if we miss a session?
A: Life happens! We have a reschedule policy in place, and we’ll always do our best to accommodate.

 Parent Involvement

Q: Do I need to be in every session?
A: For parent coaching, yes — because we’re teaching you the tools. For intensives, we work directly with your child and involve you so you feel confident carrying things over.

Q: What if my spouse or co-parent isn’t on board?
A: That’s very common. We’ll meet parents where they are and give strategies that still work, even if one caregiver takes the lead.

Q: Can grandparents or caregivers be trained too?
A: Absolutely. The more consistent the team, the faster the progress.

 Child Outcomes

Q: Will this help my child talk / stop tantrums / make friends?
A: Every child is different, but we target the most important goals for your family. We’ll make a clear plan together so you know what to expect and how we’ll measure progress.

Q: How is this different from the ABA my child already gets?
A: Insurance ABA often focuses only on reducing behaviors. Outlier ABA is parent-led, whole-family focused, and centered on building skills for everyday life.

Q: Do you guarantee results?
A: We can’t promise specific outcomes, but we do guarantee that you’ll leave each session with practical tools you can use immediately.

Approach & Ethics

Q: Is this the same ABA I’ve heard bad things about?
A: No. Outlier ABA is committed to ethical, compassionate, and modern practices. We focus on empowering families, respecting children, and teaching in positive, supportive ways.

Q: Do you use punishments or time-out?
A: No. Our approach uses positive reinforcement, teaching new skills, and setting healthy boundaries — never fear or shame.

Q: What makes you different from other providers?
A: We’re parent-led. That means our work doesn’t just stop when the session ends — you’ll have the skills and confidence to keep progress going every day, with or without traditional services.

Logistics & Legal

Q: Do you coordinate with our insurance-funded ABA team?
A: Yes, with your permission. We can collaborate with other providers to ensure consistency across settings.

Q: Can I submit your invoices to insurance?
A: You can try, but most families don’t receive reimbursement. We’re happy to provide invoices with clear documentation if you’d like to submit.

Q: What is your cancellation/refund policy?
A: Details are outlined in our service agreement, but in general we ask for notice if you need to cancel. Packages are non-refundable once services begin, though we’ll always work with you if circumstances change.
